Today I received my replacement blu-ray player, yay! It arrived undamaged and we tested it out watching Megamind. Which by the way was absolutely amazing. It also looked fabulous but it is a Dreamworks movie so that was expected.
Anyway, here's how the events unfolded:
March 29 - Won blu-ray player from Kool-Aid sweep
April 19 - Received broken player and emailed company
April 21 - Received response that they would have someone from marketing contact me
April 22 - UPS attempts to pick up player (and fails)
April 25 - Person from marketing tells me a replacement is on the way and UPS will be by to pick up the damaged one
April 29 - New working player arrives!
As far as getting a replacement prize goes that was pretty painless. I am SO grateful for that. Obviously I hope I never have any more issues like this. But if I do then I hope it's handled in the same fashion.
Now onto my next dream win: iPod touch.

My dream win just arrived broken
A blu-ray player has been #1 on my sweeping wish list forever. When I won one from the Kool-Aid contest I was ecstatic. But then I started worrying. What happens if you get your prize and it's broken? Do they send you another one or say too bad? Well I guess I'll find out because I received it today and it's broken.
They shipped it in only it's original box (why?!) and I immediately noticed that one of the corners looked like someone dropped it. When I opened it my worst fear came true. It's cracked, the plastic piece that covers the tray was broken off, and it has a large hole in it where the power button should be.
Jeez I'm so upset! I just emailed the company and sent this picture so we'll see what they say. Hopefully something good like they'll send another one.

My new found love for... watching golf
Yesterday I was over at a friend's house who really likes playing and watching golf, as long as Tiger Woods is playing. He said that he was going to watch the Masters Tournament which was from 8 am - 1 pm. My dad loves golf and whenever he turned the tv to a game I would immediately tell him to change the channel. Talk about boring. But I was at a friend's house and I decided that I'd watch it until I couldn't take it anymore.
However, pretty much right off the bat I enjoyed it... a lot. It helped that my friend wanted Tiger Woods to win and hated everyone else. So he had to make comments every time someone else was on the screen. From the very beginning I decided that Charl Schwartzel was going to win. After he made some amazing shots he became my friend's most hated player. He was just jealous because my pick was super talented and Tiger Woods kept missing 3 foot putts. It was fun to pick on him and laugh whenever something like that happened.
I found it really exciting. Like I didn't want to get up to go to the bathroom or look away from the tv. It only showed the top few people playing. Then all the sudden some guy it didn't show the entire game would be tied for 1st. But my guy won in the end so yay! It was sad too. I felt SO bad for Rory McIlroy. He went from winning by quite a bit to doing horrible. His mind was clearly frazzled.
It definitely didn't feel like it lasted 5 hours. I only had less than 2 hours of sleep too. I figured it might put me to sleep. Watching golf might be something I really get in to... That's something I thought I'd never ever say!

Thanks for the blu-ray player Kool-Aid!

We only have 7 blu-rays so far but I still can't wait to get it. The worst part of winning something: waiting to get it.
If you haven't heard of this contest and want a blu-ray player you should definitely check it out! They're giving away 5 a day until June 17th. You just have to go to their Facebook page, like them, and click on the Kool-Sweeps link on the left. I NEVER enter Facebook contests that require me to like something but I made an exception and it paid off!
Good luck!
